The Leander girls track team took third and the Lions placed fifth as several athletes advanced to the regional meet May 2.

The Rouse girls placed second overall with 111 points, with Cedar Park earning first (158 points). The Lady Raiders beat out Lake Travis (107), Dripping Springs (89), Vista Ridge (83) and others.

The Leander track team is sending more than a dozen athletes to the 84th Annual Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays Friday and Saturday at the University of Texas in Austin.

Kyle Denny signed a letter of intent to run on the track team at Rice University next year, and he will run in he Texas Relays this weekend.
