J.C. Evans Construction Co. Inc. said it will lay off approximately 300 employees after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization in August, according to the Texas Workforce Commission.

Williamson County scored its second economic coup of the summer, with Tuesday’s announcement that Office Depot will open a business-customer service center just west of Round Rock in January, bringing at least 40 new jobs initially, and 203 jobs by 2016.
